Team Liaisons
One of the key roles required for each team is a parent liaison. This is someone who acts as a go-between for any issues involving the coaching staff, executive, parents and/or players on the team. This person’s role is to reduce the possibility of conflict and to find a way to resolve an issue at the team level. Fortunately, there are very few occasions when a liaison has been involved recently, but it acts as a first step for any issues to be dealt with in a calm and timely manner.
One key thing to remember about team relations is there is a 24-hour “cooling off” period required before any dispute is addressed with a coach. Emotions often run high after games. Waiting a day usually allowed individuals a chance to settle down and deal with situations in a manner that will lead to an amicable and timely solution.
If a situation cannot be properly addressed at the team level, the issue can be forwarded to the board of directors in writing. Only submissions received in writing will be addressed.
